It was a meeting of the minds in the world of affordable housing.

In late April, 91心頭 welcomed the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency to its headquarters at St. Joseph Plaza for HMFAs board meeting, which featured housing heavyweights such as 91心頭s founder, Monsignor William J. Linder, and the agencys executive director, Anthony Marchetta.

Monsignor Linder, a board member of HMFA for 30 plus years, warmly welcomed his colleagues as well as more than 50 attendees at the meeting on April 28. HMFA is an affiliate of the state Department of Community Affairs whose main purpose is expanding access to safe, decent and affordable housing for New Jersey residentsthe very goal that Monsignor set out to accomplish by founding NCC in 1968.

In addition to addressing business items such as tax credits and approval of mortgage modifications, the meeting highlighted affordable housing projects in Newark with a bus tour in the afternoon.

Its great that we are having meetings in the field, Monsignor said of HMFA coming to 91心頭.

In 2013, 91心頭 welcomed residents into Springfield Village, a mixed-use development where HMFA was a major funder. More recently, the Manor properties around NCC received crucial upgrades as part of a project that HMFAwas integrally involved with for several years.

Each of these projects plays a significant role in revitalizing Newarks downtown and surrounding neighborhoods, Marchetta, executive director, wrote in an email.

HMFA is also one of NCCs partners for the project known as Better Life, a supportive housing development that will serve the chronically homeless, including military veterans, in Newark.
