Spring Festival Supports Scholarship Fund
It was a night of lively dancing, prize winning and general merriment at 91看片鈥檚 annual Spring Festival and Auction.
More than 250 people filled the 91看片 Neighborhood Center to raise money for the William J. Linder Scholarship Fund, which offers financial support for needy students to attend elite prep schools in New Jersey and beyond.
Colleatte Misiani says the scholarship helped her 鈥渢o fulfill a lifelong dream.鈥� Now a biology major at Montclair State University, Misiani said the scholarship allowed her to attend a private, all-girls Catholic school in Clark called Mother Seton Regional High School.
鈥淢other Seton gave me the foundation and preparation that I needed to attend college and pursue my dreams and achieve my goals,鈥� said Misiani, 18, of Irvington. (Her mother, Joyce, graduated from NCC鈥檚 nursing school and works as a licensed practical nurse at the Extended Care Center.)
As the deejay spun a set of classic rhythm and blues songs, attendees vied for prizes and enjoyed a dinner spread catered by NCC鈥檚 Extended Care Center and Culinary Arts Specialist Program. The festival was organized by a nine-member committee headed by Administrative Assistant Helen Abraha, the event鈥檚 longtime coordinator.
