Community Hills Early Learning Center Celebrates Week of the Young Child

Students and staff members at Community Hills Early Learning Center (CHELC), 85 Irvine Turner Boulevard, Newark, celebrated the Week of the Young Child from April 4 to 8. Themes included Music Monday, Tasty Tuesday and Work Together Wednesday. Students and staff members finished the week with a parade around the center and fun activities in the parking lot. The Week of the Young Child, established in 1971, is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The purpose is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.

Harmony House Early Learning Center (HHELC), 278 South Orange Ave., Newark, celebrated the annual Week of the Young Child April 10-16. Each day the students engaged in different activities as directed by their teachers. The purpose of the Week of the Young Child is to “focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.” Photos courtesy of HHELC.
