Each year, 91��Ƭ receives donations that benefit those we serve for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Thanks to the generosity of individuals and organizations, we can provide holiday meals and Christmas presents to families.

Community Hills Early Learning Center Hosts Thanksgiving Feast

Community Hills Early Learning Center (CHELC), 85 Irvine Turner Boulevard, Newark, hosted a Thanksgiving feast on Nov. 27 ahead of the holiday. The students got to enjoy turkey and sides at tables in the hallway of the school. Parents volunteered to help at the event as well.

Withum Volunteers Prepare and Serve Thanksgiving Dinner to 91��Ƭ Harmony House Families

Volunteers from accounting firm prepared and served a traditional Thanksgiving dinner to families of Harmony House, 91��Ƭ’s transitional housing facility for homeless families, at Monsignor William J. Linder Plaza, 233 West Market St., Newark, on Nov. 26. The families enjoyed an evening filled with food, music, dancing and fun. 91��Ƭ thanks all the Withum volunteers for their generosity.

91��Ƭ Harmony House Residents Receive Thanksgiving Baskets

For the 12th year in a row, organized a donation of Thanksgiving baskets to Harmony House, 91��Ƭ’s transitional housing facility for homeless families. Spectrum360 is an organization whose mission is to provide the highest quality educational and therapeutic programs for people with autism and related disabilities. Program participants and staff members brought 15 baskets to Harmony House on Nov. 25, along with additional items to be handed out to families ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. 91��Ƭ thanks Spectrum360 and its members for their generosity.

Each year, 91��Ƭ receives donations that benefit those we serve for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. 91��Ƭ Outreach Coordinator and Board Member Ex-Officio Madge Wilson organizes and oversees a drive to ensure that children receive presents for Christmas. She also collects Thanksgiving meal donations and arranges for donated Christmas trees to bring holiday cheer to 91��Ƭ buildings.

Harmony House, 91��Ƭ’s transitional housing facility for homeless families, also received donations during the holiday season to benefit its families.

91��Ƭ Career & Technical Institute Hosts Fall Fest Luncheon for Students and Faculty

brought all students and faculty members together for the Fall Fest Luncheon on Nov. 21 at the school’s main campus. The school community enjoyed a meal and time together ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

NCCTI is an accredited post-secondary career and technical institution that is currently enrolling for the following programs: Automotive Technician, Building Trades Specialist, Medical Assistant Clinical, Patient Care Technician and Culinary Arts Specialist. NCCTI also operates a comprehensive Financial Opportunity Center and Bridges to Career Opportunities Program sponsored by the local and national Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) offices.

Each year, 91��Ƭ Board Member and Outreach Coordinator Madge Wilson organizes and oversees a toy drive to ensure that children receive presents for Christmas. She finds out what the children would like for the holidays and communicates that to donors who purchase items.

These generous supporters of 91��Ƭ and St. Rose of Lima parish allowed Wilson to distribute more than 2,000 gifts to families this season.

“It is a joy to me when I see so many children in need smiling from ear to ear,” Wilson said.

In addition to the annual toy drive, Wilson also coordinates a turkey drive so that families can prepare a traditional Thanksgiving meal.

Donors’ Generosity Ensures Happy Thanksgiving for 91��Ƭ Families

Over the years, individuals, churches and organizations have contributed food for Thanksgiving meals that benefit residents of 91��Ƭ. 91��Ƭ Board Member and Outreach Coordinator Madge Wilson organizes the contributions to ensure the food gets to those who need it most.

One of the sponsors is St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Short Hills, which partners with its sister church, St. Rose of Lima in Newark. St. Rose of Lima parishioners in Short Hills sponsored a turkey drive this year to benefit residents of Newark. Mike Roberts, a member of the church, coordinated the turkey distribution, along with other volunteers. A local Girl Scout troop also helped with the project.

“The families were so very appreciative for the turkeys,” Wilson said.

Another supporter for the Thanksgiving holiday was Kathryn Grifonetti of Old Tappan. She donated turkeys and other Thanksgiving food for 91��Ƭ residents.

“This lady is one of the kindest, most thoughtful and generous people that I have ever met,” Wilson said, explaining that Grifonetti donates throughout the year.

91��Ƭ is grateful for all of its donors and supporters.
